Sue DeLelys and her husband Dan are down here in the balmy south and decided to try their hand at the Marsh.

We started the day with top water baits and ended with the same. Needed equipment: one top water bait and one rod each.

So many fish were caught that the count got lost. Both Sue and Dan were great fishing partners for the day. Sue is outstanding to do business with at Guest Chargers and an absolute delight on the water.

The Senkos are producing as are the Chug Bugs and if thrown in the right location they are returning with some excellent takers.

Clint Bowers on the left caught this 7.5 pound lady on a Senko.

During their trip last week Jim Jurich on the right caught this gal using a weightless Senko. Twin Palms has produced some really nice fish.

Clint Bowers above found this lady willing to make a run with his Chug Bug after tossing it into an opening of a mat on the south end of the Farm.

Jim is holding an eight pound gal taken on a Senko on the left, and Clint on the right is holding a 7.5 pound gal that fell for the chug, chug, chug of the Chug Bug.

Generally, whether on the Marsh or on the Farm the fish are willing to play. Plastics and top water baits are doing extremely well and there has been some spinner bait bite. Most of what we have seen has been in and around Twin Palms on the Marsh, and the south end of the Farm.

See you out there. Say hi if you get the chance.

Fishing remains strong both on the Farm and on the Marsh. Russ hauled out this 5.25 beauty on a Chug Bug 4/18/02 from the south end of the Farm. It was about 1 PM and the Chug bug bite had been strong all day. Once the top water bite starts here you can pretty much count on it all day.

Russ's fish had followed my fish that weighed in at an identical weight by about 10 minutes and both fish with that exciting top water explosion that we all love to see. Given a choice of favorite bite I would certainly have to put this a the top of the list. I would also have to put Russ at the top of my list as a fishing partner for the day.

This picture of Russ and Scott shows the quality of fish that are in the spillway area of the Farm. She hit a Chug Bug that was cast into the current. You just can't beat the excitement of seeing them inhale the bug on the surface. We caught a fair amount of fish in the spillway area on the morning of the 17th so you  just might want to check out the area.

Early in the day before checking the spillway area out Russ landed this bass using again the Chug Bug from the south end of the Farm. As with the previous days the 17th would prove to be an outstanding day for all and gave Russ the chance to see just how good the Marsh/Farm can be.

Over the four days that Russ fish with us there was a total of 240 bass caught and released. About 25% came on Senkos and the rest came on top water Chug Bugs. We didn't break that magic 10 pound weight but we did have plenty of 4 - 7 pound fish come to the boat, and above all we had a great time. Lots of laughs, lots of good fish, and great camaraderie made for a fantastic visit with Russ Bassdozer.

If you are looking for a great time fishing and the fantastic excitement of top water explosions give us a call. See you on the water.

Twin Palms on the Stick Marsh has been producing lots of fish, big fish and fantastic days on the Marsh. However, all of this came to a slowdown as the spawn occurred and the fish moved on.

Sunday, previous customer Grif Pitcher of Atlanta and I headed out there and spent most of the day only picking at them. We also headed out to the NW area but didn't find much better over there. We had a good day of fishing but a not so good day of catching.

Monday we had a group out from W. Virginia. Tom Reece who has been here before brought several of his friends to give the Marsh a go. Total catch for the day for the four of them was 28 bass which when you consider three didn't fish much if at all prior to this trip, that wasn't so bad. No big fish were caught and the Marsh didn't show her best side as we coped with wind and stubborn fish.

Tuesday things were going to change and they would do so quite dramatically. Scott and I were host to Russ Comeau, (many of you know Russ as Bassdozer), from Yamamoto Bait Company. Russ has heard many things about the Marsh/Farm but had never had the opportunity to fish the waters. The Angler's Choice/Yamamoto tournament on Okeechobee this last week gave Russ the opportunity and excuse to get here to Florida and we weren't allowing him to leave the area without a good chance at some of the lunkers here.

Heading to the Farm where I had found some early morning top water bite, and armed with rods rigged with Chug Bugs, Russ could barely wait to make the first cast. We started daybreak, and we quit at 4:00.

When does a representative of Yamamoto Baits put down the rod that has a Senko on it and start fishing other bait? When the bite is on the surface and the Chug Bug produces throughout the day. The count was somewhere between 80 and 100 bass with the biggest lady weighing in at 7.5 pounds. The top water bite on this lake can be phenomenal, and as I said a few weeks ago we are anticipating this to be a banner year. For Russ, this was certainly a banner day and not something he is likely to see on the lakes back home.

Today we headed out to the same area and although the weather wasn't quite as nice, (storms and wind), the bite was just about the same. The one difference today was I caught a pretty good bunch on the Senko as Scott and Russ worked the Bug. We quit today by three with over 60 bass to 5 pounds. We needed to give the wrists a rest. Pictures are up on my site.

See you out there. If you're looking to get in on some of this top water give us a call. Give a shout hi if you get the chance.

The christening went well, the 700 plus mile trip each way was long, and the worst of all is I couldn't get my Grand-daughter out fishing. However, I did notice as we traveled 321 to Hickory that the water levels are back where they should be so you guys up there have your fishing grounds back.

We got back Sunday at 9:00 ready and raring to go on Monday Morning. Scott had out Don Armstrong and his son Joe, and although the day was a bit breezy, the weather remained nice throughout the day. Don started out the day hooking his biggest of his lifetime. Rearing back to cast his chug bug he let it rip. The backlash was immediate, rapidly followed by Scott grabbing the line as the sharp hard tug on his ear and blood dripping downward announced a major "oops!". Scott called me over and we had it out quickly. Scotts ear smarted and poor Don looked as if he could crawl into one of the lockers. Don't worry Don, Scott always wanted an ear ring.

Then came insult added to injury as Joe set the hook on about a 7 pound bass and the bass swam off with Joe's rod. As Joe set the hook in one direction the fish went in the other. I think at some point it has happened to us all. Don't worry Joe, I have done it more than once. It seems to me I can visualize Bill Dance scrambling for a pole that slipped on the strike and going overboard to get it, so it happens to the best of us.

Joe and Don ended up the day with Joe out-fishing his Dad, but if I heard correctly Dad promised to make a comeback on the next outing. All in all they had a great day, and there just isn't anything better than Father and Son spending the quality time that is found in a shared fishing adventure.

My people were regular clients down for a week of fishing. Chris Corum and Holly knew the Marsh for its fantastic fishing and were raring to have at the Bass after facing snow and cold throughout this long and cold winter in their home area of Bristol Tenn.

Today would be spent doing some fishing and some area scouting. No big fish this trip, but after checking several areas and marking them with GPS, Chris and Holly were ready for the upcoming week.

Both boats spent the day on the Marsh side. Lots of Bass are out in the middle of the Marsh, and we found lots more on the South end just in from the divider ditch. Various baits were thrown but the plastics produced best with dark colored Senkos continuing to lead the way.

See you on the water. Say hi if you get the chance. April should be an outstanding month if the weather cooperates. A bit breezy and wet this week. We still have a few openings this month. Give us a call.
