NOVEMBER 2011

As the Marsh is famous for, this trip was 180 degrees from my last. A combination of moving water and right location provided for a day of outstanding fishing. Carolina-rigged baits fishing in the right location produced 50 bass as we fished from 7:30 - 12:30. I didn't count them, but I would guess we missed as many as we boated. I know that Father and son, Buddy and Gordon went off satisfied that they had seen the Marsh producing as advertised.

Tough day out there today. Water temperatures have dropped drastically. Although we haven't had any extreme cold, we have had wind and that dropped the water by at least 10 degrees. Fish went into a non-biting mode. By day's end we managed to boat only 8 fish.

The winds continue but so does the bite. Flowing water is producing numbers and size. Top water is working in the ebb areas of the flow and producing both numbers and size. Yesterday, Don Willis produced a great catch of an 8-pound gal while out fishing with Bruce C. They added another 32 for the morning before calling it quits.

Winds are supposed to be dying down through the weekend. See you out there - say hi if you get the chance.

The winds have continued to make for some tough fishing, however not if you can find some current and protection. The open lake offers no protection, but flowing water on both the north and south ends of the lake offer both protection and very good catching possibilities.

Today we opted to make the long run to the south and although the current is not heavy fish were there for the catching. Our trip consisted of artificial C-rigged baits and catching was consistent throughout the day. Although we didn't get any of the Marsh's famous big fish we did have a blast.

Shiners were producing on a boat that was close and did produce larger bass. Although no monsters, we did observe a couple of 6-7 pound gals make it to the boat.

The south end of the Farm has grass growing and had been producing good catches until this windy spell starting making it very difficult to fish. Once we get past this spell of wind and the water clears a bit the top water bite should return with lipless crank baits and plastics also being a top choice. Be ready for big gals when this happens.

See you out there: say hi if you get the chance.

Rain and wind have been constant companions for the last week making for some very difficult fishing. Moving water has been the source for the best catches. C-rigged plastics have been the best choice in the moving waters. However, with the high winds and no place to hide from them have made for some very difficult fishing.

Stick Marsh/Farm 13 can get quite dangerous when the wind blows as it has for the last week so be very careful out there. Can you believe that we are already into November? See you out there: say hi if you get the chance.
